Check an APK with Play Protect
Play Protect is one layer in an APK review. It works best when source, version and permission checks happen as well.
Keep Play Protect enabled
Open Google Play, select the profile menu, choose Play Protect and confirm scanning is active. Do not disable scanning because a download page or chat contact says it is required.
Verify before scanning
A clean scanner result cannot prove that the source is official. Compare the domain or store listing, publisher, package name, version, package size and update information with the current verified platform route.
Scan the installed app
Run a Play Protect scan after installation and review Android’s app information screen. Check storage, network, notification and any sensitive permission requests individually.
Treat warnings as evidence
If Android blocks the package, reports a harmful app or shows a signature conflict, stop. Do not use a modified installer or weaken device protections to force completion.
Monitor later changes
Recheck permissions after updates. Remove packages that begin requesting SMS, contacts, accessibility, device-administrator or other access that is not clearly required and explained.
